Portable dental unit performs brilliantly

Through collaboration with major humanitarian organizations in the United States and Austria, a second portable Dental Unit will be purchased in May of 2009. Rota-Dent, under the direction of Mr. LeRoy Benham and the sponsorship of Rotary Clubs of Newberg, Oregon are making available world class dental equipment at subsidized prices for humanitarian dental projects around the world.

The portable control unit and chair was picked up in Oregon, then transported to Singapore and then on to Leh in order to be available for the international dental teams that came to Ladakh in the summer of 2009. It performed beautifully during the dental expedition in the remote Nubra Valley and will serve the project for many years to come.

Portable dental unitare quickly becoming a very popular piece of equipment for many practitioners. There are many online dentist supply companies offering this type of equipment as well. This is giving dentists a variety of places to research this type of equipment before buying it.

A portable dental unit is a valuable piece of equipment and can be used in multiple places. They can be taken to places where periodontal and orthodontic care was once unavailable, they can go on mission trips, travel to nursing homes, and they can enable a dentist to take their practice into their patient’s homes if necessary.

As their patients age and become unable to go into the office, having portable dental units gives the practitioners the ability to go where the people need them most. With the many natural disasters that have recently occurred, many communities have been left in ruins. Some people are literally hours away from the nearest hospital, let alone a dentist office. Having access to this type of equipment allows people to have the proper oral healthcare, even if they have lost everything.

Many of these machines are self-containing. They also come with a foot pedal, and technology has made them mush less cumbersome and lighter for travelling purposes. For dentists that have had a practice for some time and have established clients, this has given them the opportunity to go to where their patients are.
